Rotary Club Araneta expands Mercy Missions

Barely two years old, Rotary Club of Araneta managed to extend the international Rotarian tradition of service to humanity based on the four test of truth of its organization.

Sometime in 2007, Rotary Club of Araneta, under the urgings one of its members, Danilo A. Santos an employee of PCSO, focused on PCSO’s Center for Health Improvement Life Development a half-way home for some one hundred cancer-afflicted children who come from different parts of the country. President Deo Oxales of Rotary Club of Araneta, unanimously supported by its members started a feeding program for the C.H.I.L.D. beneficiaries, including its guardians late in 2007.

This was followed by a series of feeding program and the year’s culmination Rotary activity was the Rotary Club of Araneta Gift-Giving Christmas party for the C.H.I.L.D. patients, as its year ender. The Rotary Club Araneta came in full force other officials from other Rotary Clubs in Metro Manila who collectively brought food, goodies, toys and sorties to enliven the morning which brought happiness to the sick patients.

It was a heart – warming sight and to witness the sparkle in the eyes of these cancer patients and guardians was a rare opportunity for one to empathize with the sick, even for a temporary moment. However to be confronted with various cancerous deformities in patient’s being bring an unexplained sadness and desire to touch the lines of these poor children.

The memorable event lasted till almost one o’clock in the afternoon, whereby food, toys, goodies were given to patients, which including a sprinkling of few adult patients. The Rotarians who feted these beneficiaries where likewise blessed with gratification of sharing, loving and caring for the less fortunate; surely Rotary Club Araneta has notched a glorious moment that will live on.
